Studio Saturdays

Concentrate on painting in oils or pastels. You choose a subject which interests you, and then work from life or reference—landscape, portrait, figure, or still life.

You will learn basic techniques in painting and drawing and how various materials behave in different conditions.

Each class will include a demonstration focusing on a specific issue such as color, light, line, or composition. The first demonstration will be a group project, as we explore ways to go about starting a painting.

I’ve moved

As of January 1, my studio will be in the third floor of my Brighton home. It’s a bright, clean space with skylights and color-corrected fixtures. My new address is 410 Oakdale Drive, Rochester 14618

Fees & Structure

The cost of this class is $99 a month. MC/Visa and personal checks are accepted. Tuition is due at the beginning of each month.

Those who need to miss class for high religious holidays (such as Holy Saturday or Yom Kippur) will receive a refund for the day.

The first session will start on Jan. 8.

The class is strictly limited to six people, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

An application form is attached. It should be submitted with your first month’s tuition.

For the first class, you will need a newsprint pad and charcoal. A supply list will be provided.

You may work in oils or pastels. While I can provide instruction in watercolor, demos will be geared toward opaque media.

I’m looking forward to seeing you!
